R&B legend Cedric “K-Ci” Hailey, a member of the iconic R&B group Jodeci, was hospitalized due to pneumonia, which postponed several of the group’s upcoming performances. Fans who had been eagerly awaiting Jodeci’s tour stops, including a highly-anticipated Valentine’s Day show at Brooklyn’s Kings Theatre and a concert in Connecticut, are now rallying behind K-Ci as he recovers.
According to Jodeci’s management, K-Ci was admitted to the hospital earlier this week due to complications from pneumonia. This infection inflames the lungs and can be dangerous if not treated early. Fortunately, after receiving medical care, he has since been discharged and is now resting at home under a regimen of antibiotics.
Jodeci’s manager, Michael Paran, confirmed the news, stating, “He’s at home resting with antibiotics.” Due to his health condition, the group has canceled their scheduled performances this weekend. However, Paran reassured fans that all other Jodeci shows after this weekend are still set to go on as planned.
The postponed shows, particularly the Brooklyn and Connecticut performances, will be rescheduled. Ticket holders have been informed that refunds will be processed automatically.
K-Ci’s unmistakable, soaring vocals have been a defining element of Jodeci’s sound, making his health scare especially concerning for longtime fans.
Jodeci, often hailed the “Bad Boys of R&B,” has been an iconic force in the genre since the early ‘90s. With hits like “Freak’n You,” “Forever My Lady,” “Stay,” and “Come and Talk to Me,” the group pioneered a smooth and edgy sound that continues to influence today’s R&B artists. K-Ci and his brother JoJo also saw massive success as the duo K-Ci & JoJo, scoring a No. 1 hit with “All My Life” in the late ‘90s.
Throughout his career, K-Ci has faced personal challenges, including battles with addiction. As he recovers, the music world eagerly awaits his return, knowing that when he does, he will bring back the soulful, electrifying performances that have defined his career.
